This Valentine’s Day, savour movies that celebrate love and friendship

It thrives in the deep bonds of friendship and even unspoken emotions.
Since Valentine's Day honours love in all its varied forms, explore movies that beautifully capture the essence of true friendship, camaraderie and connections that make life meaningful. Musafiraa-Shot in the breathtaking Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands, this narrative highlights the importance of true allies in life.
The directorial debut of Pushkar Jog, ‘Musafiraa,’ also features him as Nishank, one of the central characters, alongside actors Pooja Sawant, Smrity Sinha, Pushkaraj Chirputkar and Dissha Pardeshi in major roles.
Released in 2024, this Marathi film follows a long-awaited reunion trip planned and executed by five friends after 15 years.
However, the journey also brings unresolved conflicts from the past to the surface, ultimately testing the depth of their friendship.
Produced by Anand Pandit, Roopa Pandit, Pushkar Jog, and Nitin Vaidya. Chhichhore-A coming-of-age film set against the backdrop of the 1990s and 2019, ‘Chhichhore’ follows Aniruddh ‘Anni’ Pathak, a middle-aged divorced man whose son, Raghav, attempts suicide after failing the JEE exam.
To give Raghav hope, Anni recounts his college days; a story filled with humour, nostalgia and a never-say-die spirit that ultimately inspires his son.
As the narrative unfolds, Anni’s old friends reunite to help complete the story and encourage Raghav to embrace life.
Featuring the late Sushant Singh Rajput in an outstanding performance as Anni, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, and Naveen Polishetty in key roles.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who co-wrote it with Piyush Gupta and Nikhil Mehrotra, ‘Chhichhore’ is available on Disney+ Hotstar. Dil Chahta Hai-The incorrigible Akash (Aamir Khan), the clueless Sameer (Saif Ali Khan) and his hilarious romantic escapades and Sid’s (Akshaye Khanna) mature love story; the characters in this timeless tale retain their charm still.
Even after 24 years, Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut continues to captivate new audiences, transcending generations.
Preity Zinta’s Shalini, Sonali Kulkarni’s Pooja, and the evergreen Dimple Kapadia as Tara Jaiswal also deliver commendable performances in this film that beautifully explores friendship, its joys and sorrows, as well as lost love and hope.
The hit soundtrack composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy remains a party essential to this day.

It is available on Netflix. Veere Di Wedding-A vibrant comedy-drama, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ follows four childhood friends—Kalindi, Avni, Sakshi, and Meera, who reunite for Kalindi's wedding.
Beyond the celebrations, the film explores their struggles with relationships, both familial and romantic, while highlighting the depth of female friendships, independence and the pursuit of happiness.
