Three notorious criminals injured in police encounter, five others nabbed

Rourkela(By Abhishek Mohanty): Three members of a dacoit gang were injured in a police encounter at Lathikata area of Sundargarh district on Sunday. The gang had been active in the Koida region and was allegedly planning dacoities at four different locations.

During the operation, five other members of the gang were apprehended. Police sources said the group had been involved in multiple robberies in the Bonaigarh and Koida areas over the past few days. The criminals tried to escape when the raid was conducted, leading to an exchange of fire.

Police seized three firearms, Rs 80,000 in cash and a Scorpio vehicle from the accused. Further investigation is underway.
