11-year-old boy’s body found in septic tank in Puri

Puri(21/04/2025): The body of an 11-year-old boy, who had gone missing for a week, was found inside a septic tank at Ratanpur village under Delanga police limits in Puri district late on Sunday night. Ashirbad Sahoo, a Class VI student, was last seen playing near his home on April 16.

After he did not return, his family filed a missing complaint, prompting a large-scale search operation by police, including analysis of CCTV footage and mobile tracking.

Despite these efforts, the boy remained untraced for several days. During the investigation, police detained Ashirbad’s uncle, Bapi Sahu, for questioning.

Though initially released, he was kept under surveillance and later rearrested.

Later, Bapi Sahu confessed to killing the boy.

Basing on his statement, police recovered Ashirbad’s body from the septic tank at the accused’s house. Irked over this, villagers ransacked the accused’s house in protest.
