I extend my heartfelt congratulations to CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, and the Indian Thermal Spray Association for organizing this important event that brings together experts from academia, industry, and research institutions across India and beyond.

Sustainability and efficiency are not just aspirations but necessities for industrial progress.

Odisha, with its rich mineral resources and thriving industrial ecosystem, stands to benefit immensely from advancements in thermal spray technology.

I encourage all participants to engage in meaningful discussions, explore new research avenues, and collaborate towards pioneering solutions.

The insights and innovations that emerge from this conference will not only contribute to scientific progress but also pave the way for real-world applications that benefit industries and society alike." SKrushna Chandra Patra, Cabinet Minister, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology, Odisha, said “Odisha is known for its natural resources & strong metrological foundations.

However, due to its industrial power houses set up scientific research & technological innovations.

Institutes like CSIR – IMMT, IIT, NEET & other premier research centres are playing an important role in developing next generation materialized and engineering solutions.

Thermal spray & wooding are an important part of modern engineering elements, whose applications in several sectors including aerospace, automobile, medical engineering, energy & power generation, and defence & space technologies are there.

One of the most significant aspects of this conference is the collaboration between research institutions & industries and their equal participation”. Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Industries & Skill Development and Technical Education, Odisha, said “I am honoured to speak at the Second Thermal Spray Conference, jointly organised by CSIR and IMMT.

It is a pleasure to visit CSIR IMMT, a leading research institute in Odisha since 1964, and be a part of its diamond jubilee celebration.

This conference highlights the progress in material science and surface engineering, which plays vital role in industries like aerospace, automobile, energy and manufacturing.

Thermal Spray technology enhances the durability and efficiency of critical components, driving economic growth and sustainability.

Odisha, being a hub of industrial innovation with rich mineral resources, plays a crucial role in the areas of material science and surface engineering.

The Government of Odisha is committed to support the emerging technologies like thermal spray and surface engineering, thereby encouraging collaboration between academia and industry.

I congrats CSIR IMMT, And Indian thermal Spray Association for bringing together brilliant minds from academia, industry and research institutions, providing them with invaluable opportunities for knowledge exchange that would be a driving force for technological advancement and industrial applications in the new future”. Building on the success of the inaugural edition, NTSC 2025 will showcase the latest advancements in thermal spray coatings and their applications across multiple industries.

Experts from academia, industry, and government—spanning aerospace, automotive, energy, biomedical, and manufacturing—will join us, including researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, thermal spray manufacturers, and aspiring talents. The event will feature keynote lectures from renowned experts, covering topics such as plasma spray, HVOF, cold spray, suspension and solution precursor spray techniques, nanostructured and composite coatings, corrosion-resistant coatings, and energy-efficient coating technologies.

With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and performance assessment, the conference will provide a platform for discussions on emerging trends and future prospects in the field. NTSC 2025 aims to foster collaboration between industry and academia, facilitating high-impact discussions on research commercialization, startup involvement in surface engineering, and real-world challenges in adopting thermal spray coatings for industrial applications.

A dedicated expo zone will feature leading thermal spray equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, and research institutions, offering live demonstrations of cutting-edge coating deposition techniques, process optimization, and quality control innovations.

This hands-on experience will allow attendees to witness the latest advancements shaping the industry. To encourage innovation, NTSC 2025 will recognize outstanding contributions through Best Technical Paper, Best Poster Presentation, and Young Researcher Awards, motivating early-career professionals and students to engage in cutting-edge research.

The event will offer unmatched networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with global experts, industry professionals, and government representatives to explore career and business growth prospects. With India emerging as a global hub for advanced coatings and surface engineering, NTSC 2025 will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the field.
