Balasore, 9/7 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty):
The “5th Annual Mega Alumni Meet–2025” organized by the Alumni Association of Fakir Mohan University was held with great enthusiasm and grandeur on the university campus. The primary objective of this gathering was to build a meaningful connection with former students and to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and aspirations.

The event was inaugurated under the leadership of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Professor Santosh Kumar Tripathy. As part of the “One Student ~ One Book” campaign, an ‘Alumni Library’ was established within the university's central library. Former students actively contributed by donating books, making the initiative a success. This noble effort marks a significant step toward enriching and enhancing the accessibility of the university’s knowledge resources.

Presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Tripathy, the alumni meet featured Dr. Niladri Ray, Additional Director of ITR-DRDO and a distinguished scientist, as the Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, Dr. Ray shared valuable insights and reflections on the responsibilities and roles of alumni in supporting academic and institutional development.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the vital intellectual and financial support extended by the alumni to the university over the years. He described the Alumni Association as the “Third Pillar” of the institution.

Among other distinguished guests were Prof. Bhaskar Behera, Chairperson of the Postgraduate Council; Ms. Kukumina Das, Registrar of the University; Dr. Choudhury Satyabrata Nanda, President of the Alumni Association; and Dr. Debadatta Das, Secretary of the Association. All shared their thoughts and best wishes during the gathering.

A special highlight of the event was the release of the alumni newsletter titled “Byasa Prajna.” Additionally, 27 outstanding former students were felicitated with certificates of honour and commemorative mementos for their remarkable achievements.

The cultural segment of the program featured captivating performances of Odissi dance and devotional songs, transforming the event into a vibrant celebration of art and tradition. The event was compered by Dr. Minati Mishra, Vice President of the Alumni Association, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jagannath Behera, Joint Secretary.

It is noteworthy that ahead of the university’s 27th Foundation Day on July 11, painting and elocution competitions were held among the students. Additionally, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Tripathy, a cycle rally was organized from the old campus to the Nuapadhi campus. Over 100 faculty members, staff, and students participated in this rally, spreading awareness about environmental conservation, physical and mental well-being, and other vital issues.
