Balasore, 13/12 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 7th Koshamba Mela will be organized for four days, from January 23 to 26, at Remuna Golai in Balasore. This was announced at a preparatory meeting convened today by Nua Baleswar Unnayana Parisada.

The Koshamba Mela is traditionally held every year on the occasion of Saraswati Puja at the Koshamba ground near Remuna Golai. This year, the fair will be extended to four days. At the meeting, held under the chairmanship of Parisada President Bhagaban Das Khandelwal, it was decided that the event would be organized in a more attractive and expanded manner than in previous years.

Following the suggestion of Vice-President and social worker Rabindra Kumar Jain, it was decided to publish the Parisada’s souvenir, Koshambini–2026.

To enhance the appeal and quality of the cultural programmes, Joint Secretary Jayakrushna Sahu and Cultural Secretary Manoj Kumar Nayak proposed inviting artists from outside the state. Marketing Secretary Debesh Ranjan Paramanik suggested increasing the number of marketing and exhibition stalls.

Another Vice-President, Somanath Biswal, informed that along with Saraswati Puja, the birth anniversaries of Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja, Kabisurya Baladeba Ratha, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Republic Day would also be observed in a fitting manner. To expand the scale of the fair by enrolling more new members this year, Executive Members Umakanta Behera and Chandrasekhar Parida were entrusted with this responsibility.

The meeting was attended by Gagan Kumar Giri, Pratap Mahapatra, Pramod Mahapatra, Sanu Khandelwal, Karunakar Mohanty, Subash Chandra Das, Damayanti Bag, Ward Councillor Pan Murmu, Ratikanta Behera, Debashish Sahu, Umesh Datta, and others, who shared their views for the overall success of the fair.
