Balasore Station Focuses on Hygienic Food and Women’s Health under Swachhata Abhiyaan

The Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway observed Day 10 of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) – 2025 campaign with a special focus on hygienic food, pest and rodent control, and women’s health awareness across its stations and trains.
At Balasore station, intensive inspections were carried out at catering stalls, Jan Aahar units, food plazas, and base kitchens to ensure hygienic food handling, quality standards, and cleanliness in line with the Swachh Aahar Initiative.
Alongside, a pest and rodent control drive was undertaken at Balasore and other major stations including Santragachi, Shalimar, Domjur, and Kharagpur. Pantry cars and train coaches also underwent systematic pest treatment to maintain a safe and passenger-friendly environment.
Adding to the campaign, a health awareness programme under Swastha Nari Shasakt Parivaar Abhiyan was held at Balasore station. The initiative highlighted women’s health issues and included a cancer screening camp to encourage early detection and preventive care.
The Division reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining clean surroundings, hygienic food, and safe travel facilities as part of the ongoing Swachhata Abhiyaan.
