Baleswar Municipality Celebrates Self-Governance Day

Self-Governance Day was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at Gandhi Smruti Bhavan, organized by Baleswar Municipality.

The two-day event was inaugurated by District Collector Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas, who attended as the Chief Guest.

Marking the 150th year of Baleswar Municipality, the Collector, in his address, praised the Chairperson, Councillors, Executive Officer, and all staff members for their constant efforts and dedication. Highlighting the good work of the Municipality, he urged everyone to strive to place Baleswar among the top 20 cities in the upcoming Swachh Bharat Survey. He assured that the district administration would extend full support in this endeavor.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Magistrate Shiv Malabya described it as a proud moment for Baleswar. He appreciated the Municipality’s cleanliness initiatives and congratulated the elected representatives, officers, and engineers for their contributions.

Similarly, Additional District Magistrate (General) Sudhakar Nayak emphasized the Municipality’s role in delivering quality services. He said that ensuring a clean, green, fragrant, and well-facilitated city should be the top priority. He also commended the sanitation workers for keeping the city clean.

Municipality Chairperson Sabita Sahu conducted the proceedings and spoke about the importance of self-help groups. Finally, Executive Officer Nirlipta Mohanty delivered the vote of thanks. The program concluded with a cultural performance.
