Commissionerate Police to identify illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Commissionerate Police has prepared strategies to identify illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in Bhubaneswar.
During a review meeting on crime control, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena directed all police stations to collect information about the number of undocumented Bangladeshi nationals, and take appropriate legal action.
The activities of the Bangladeshi immigrants will be verified to check whether they possess valid documents.
Action will be initiated against those failing to furnish proper documents.
The Bangladeshi nationals found to be residing illegally will be arrested. They will either be deported or handed over to the Bangladesh Embassy.
The Odisha government estaimates that more than 1.5 lakh Bangladeshis reside in Odisha. Of them, nearly 4,500 individuals are suspected to be living without proper documentation.
