Death of six patients at SLNMCH: Authorities initiate departmental inquiry

Koraput (By Abhishek Mohanty): The authorities of Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMH) in Koraput have initiated a departmental inquiry into the death of six patients within hours of each other at the hospital.
The attendants of the patients alleged that administration of wrong injection was the cause of deaths.
While five patients died last night, another succumbed in early in the morning.
The hospital authorities stated that an investigation is ongoing to examine the exact cause of the incident.
Superintendent of SLNMH Dr Susanta Kumar Sahu said, "All the patients were admitted in critical condition. Two of them had stab injuries, one had terminal cancer and others had similar serious conditions. They likely succumbed to their conditions. We don't think wrong injection caused the deaths."
