District Administration Observes Birth Anniversary of Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and District-Level Good Governance Day
Balasore, Dec 25 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was observed on Tuesday in Balasore as District-Level Good Governance Day, under the aegis of the district administration.
The programme was attended by Government Deputy Chief Whip and Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das as the chief guest, while Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta was present as the keynote speaker.
Among other distinguished guests were District Council Chairperson Narayan Pradhan, Additional District Magistrate (General) Sudhakar Nayak, Sadar Sub-Collector Shiva Malavya, Additional Executive Officer (District Council) Dr Madhusmita Samantaray, and District Information and Public Relations Officer Priyadarshi Rajesh. A representative of the Balasore MP was also present.
At the beginning of the programme, all dignitaries paid floral tributes to the portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and lit ceremonial lamps to formally inaugurate the event. District Collector Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas, who presided over the meeting, highlighted the significance of observing Good Governance Day and elaborated on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s lasting contributions to the nation. Dr Madhusmita Samantaray spoke in detail about the great leader’s life values and personality.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Gobinda Chandra Das spoke on Vajpayee’s visionary leadership, commitment to good governance, and landmark initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, river-linking concepts, expansion of telecommunications, and people-centric administration. Keynote speaker Manas Kumar Dutta reflected on Vajpayee’s political ethics, accountability, national vision, and emphasis on cleanliness in public life. District Council Chairperson Narayan Pradhan also spoke on the ideals of good governance and Vajpayee’s enduring legacy.
On the occasion, a literary session and poetry recitation programme was organised in remembrance of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in which noted poets and poetesses of Balasore district recited their original poems. Winners of various competitions held among students of different levels were also felicitated.
