Science Guides Scientists from Imagination to Reality
•A discourse on ‘Kalam, Science and Human Society’ held on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Balasore, Oct 16 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, a discourse titled “Kalam: Science and Human Society” was organized at the Bidyarthi Foundation conference hall in collaboration with Prajapati and Bidyarthi Foundation, two institutions devoted to education and knowledge.
The discussion began with the unveiling of a valuable and insightful book for students, “Baignanika Rashtrapati Abdul Kalam” (The Scientist President Abdul Kalam), authored by Dinabandhu Lenka. In his inaugural address, Lenka said, “All imagination belongs to science and scientists. It is science that leads a scientist’s imagination to reality.” He also spoke to the students about Dr. Kalam’s life, education, scientific vision, and human values, drawing several inspiring lessons from them.
Delivering the keynote address, Prashanta Das, poet and founder of Prajapati, remarked, “The use of science must serve the welfare of nature and human society. According to Kalam, science does not alienate man from God; rather, it helps foster spirituality through understanding.” He urged students to read Kalam’s biography and shape their lives by his ideals, reminding them that such a path would make them true contributors to society.
Biplab Das Mahapatra, Chief Educationist of Bidyarthi Foundation, conducted the session and encouraged students to dream like Kalam and prepare themselves with dedication and discipline. The event was graced by Parthasarathi Sahoo as the guest of honour, while teacher Rabiranjan Samal concluded the programme by reflecting on Kalam’s inspiring words.
A question-and-answer session was also held between teachers and students, which saw enthusiastic participation. Among the students, Adyasha Palai and Baibhabi Das from Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 actively assisted in the programme. The event concluded in a serene and orderly atmosphere, with guests and students offering heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
