EIGHT LAKH CUSECS OF FLOODWATER LIKELY TO PASS IN MAHANADI RIVER AT MUNDALI TODAY; COLLECTORS PUT ON ALERT

Cuttack (03/08/2023): Around 8 lakh cusecs of floodwater is likely to pass in Mahanadi River at Mundali in Cuttack district by 12 noon today.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrat Sahu has asked the collectors of Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagarsinghpur and Kendrapara to take all measures and guard weak/vulnerable embankments. The SRC has directed to ensure 24x7 patrolling of vulnerable river embakments with the support of local police and DoWR engineers, evacuation of people from low-lying areas as may be required and shifting to safe shelter buildings with light, toilet, water and food arrangements. Meanwhile, all schools and anganwadi centres will remain closed today in Sambalpur and Bhadrak districts in view of heavy rainfall.
