Odisha Mission Shakti department showcases its Tableau titled Empowerment of Women through Entrepreneurship
Bhubaneswar(26/01/2025): At the state-level Republic Day 2025 celebration held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, Department Mission Shakti, Odisha proudly showcased its Tableau titled "Empowerment of Women through Entrepreneurship" highlighting the unwavering commitment of the government of Odisha in fostering economic independence among women.The Tableau showcased the transformative journey of over 70 lakh women and emergence of Lakhpati Didis with earning of over one lakh rupees annually through various income generating livelihood initiatives. The Tableau presented a visual narrative of women’s entrepreneurial success across diverse sectors.
The Mission Shakti Café represented by members from the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal Cafe in Bhubaneswar, underscored the role of women in the state’s hospitality sector, providing healthy and delicious food while generating sustainable livelihoods.
Handicrafts and handlooms were prominently featured with tribal jewelery from Nabarangpur and golden grass products from Kendrapara, reflecting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of its women. Agriculture and floriculture, crucial components of women-led economic empowerment were also highlighted.
The Tableau depicted strawberry and dragon fruit cultivation by SHG members in Kandhamal and floriculture initiatives in Rayagada, showcasing how women have successfully ventured into modern farming techniques to boost their earnings.
Additionally, Mission Shakti Bazaar and the Shree Anna Abhiyan were prominently featured, illustrating platforms that provide women entrepreneurs with avenues to market their products, enhance livelihoods, and preserve traditional crafts. The tableau was part of the grand Republic Day celebrations, where Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati hoisted the national flag in the presence of dignitaries and citizens.
The participation of Mission Shakti in this prestigious event was a proud moment reflecting the government's commitment in promoting women-led enterprises and their growing role in Odisha’s economic development. Mission Shakti remains steadfast in its mission to empower women through entrepreneurship by providing continuous support, infrastructure, and market linkage.
