Gangadhar Biswal Literary Evening Held by OBBA on the Thirteenth Day of Bhasha Paksha
Balasore, March 9 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the thirteenth day of Bhasha Paksha and the Cottage Book Fair organised by the Odia Bhasha Bikash Andolan (OBBA), a literary evening dedicated to noted short story writer Gangadhar Biswal was held at Balasore.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Santosh Kumar Nayak, Head of the Department of Language and Literature at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College.
Young short story writer Sanjay Panda and critic Bidyutprabha Pati joined the programme as speakers and discussed the narrative world of Biswal. They observed that a profound outlook on life, the psychology of the existential individual, and the inner conflicts of characters form the underlying tone of Biswal’s fiction.
The writer himself also spoke about his long literary journey.
On behalf of the Odia Bhasha Bikash Andolan (OBBA), its President Dr. Choudhury Satyabrata Nanda and General Secretary Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy delivered their addresses. Kalyani Nanda presented a musical tribute dedicated to Biswal. Dr. Sarangadhar Tripathy invited the guests to the stage, while Joint Secretary Jumaranath Patra offered the vote of thanks.
Similarly, on the fourteenth day of Bhasha Paksha, under the moderation of Aruna Ray, young researchers Pitambar Behera, Anisha Nayak, and Bidyutprabha Pati spoke on the theme “The Voice and Signature of Contemporary Short Stories.” The President of the organisation Dr. Choudhury Satyabrata Nanda and General Secretary Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy also participated in the discussion. Joint Secretary Shantilata Panda proposed the vote of thanks.
