German woman rape case convict Bitti Hotra Mohanty dies
Bhubaneswar (12/08/2024): Bitti Hotra Mohanty, the convict in 2006 German woman rape case, died in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Bitti Hotra died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He was admitted to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar one and half months back after complaining of bleeding. Bitti was the son of Odisha's former DGP Bidya Bhusan Mohanty.
Bitti was involved in the rape of a German national (tourist) in Alwar, Rajasthan.
He was primarily convicted by the Fast Trial Court Alwar within fifteen days of his arrest on April 12,2006. Biti subsequently went absconding after being convicted of raping the German tourist by jumping parole.
In 2013, he was arrested by Kerala police after some bank officials informed the cops after submission of forged documents by Bitti to get a bank job at Thiruvananthapuram.
