ICSI National Conclave for NCLT Practitioners - 2025 held in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Eastern India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India hosted the “ICSI National Conclave for NCLT Practitioners 2025 in Bhubaneswar, organised for NCLT Practitioners, Company Secretaries, other professionals.
Chief Guest, Deep Chandra Joshi, Member (Judicial), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Cuttack Bench, expressed his gratitude towards the ICSI for organising this NCLT Conclave and for inviting professionals to the programme. He said that Company Secretaries are presenting company matters before the NCLT with great efficiency and professionalism, and acknowledged that they have emerged as some of the best pleaders before the Tribunal. He further appreciated the manner in which Company Secretary professionals present their cases and commended their presentations
Guest of Honour, Banwari Lal Meena, Member (Technical), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Cuttack Bench, commended the ICSI for organizing the Conclave across 15 locations, including Chapters, CCGRTs and Regional Offices of the Institute Nationwide. He described it as a remarkable initiative that connectsthe NCLT and the ICSI. He appreciated the diligence and professionalism of Company Secretaries in presenting Company matters at NCLT
Special Guest of the occasion, Sudhir Kapoor, Registrar of Companies-Cum-OL, MCA, Cuttack, Odisha thanked both the ICSI and the Bhubaneswar Chapter for the initiative of organizing the NCLT Conclave at Bhubaneswar, which will certainly benefit Practising Company Secretaries.
CS Sandip Kumar Kejriwal, Programme Director and Council Member, the ICSI, thanked the Judicial Member and Technical Member, NCLT, Cuttack, and the ROC-cum-OL, MCA, Cuttack for attending the conclave and addressing the professionals. He apprised both the NCLT Members about the role of Company Secretaries in NCLT and also presented the books NCLT and NCLAT Practice & Procedure June 2024 (ICSI PUBLICATION) to the NCLT Members and the ROC-cum-OL, Cuttack.
The conclave featured three technical sessions.
In the first technical session, Ashutosh Mishra, Advocate, and CS Saroj Kumar Sahoo, Practising Company Secretary, addressed on Evolving Approach of NCLT in Oppression and Mismanagement & NCLTs Increasing Role in Corporate Governance and Board Disputes and CS CMA L. D. Sahoo, Advocate, deliberated on Admission of CIRP under Sections 7, 9, and 10 of the IBC, Practical Challenges, and the Pre-Pack Insolvency Resolution Process.
In the 2nd Technical Session, CS Gopinath Nayak, Practising Company Secretary, highlighted NCLTs Role in Merger & Amalgamation, including Fast-Track Merger.
In the 3rd Technical Session, Rajat Panda (OJS) and Advocate made a presentation on Pleading, Art of Advocacy and Appearances, including Code of Conduct.
The conclave was also addressed by CS Soumya Sujit Mishra, former Chairman, EIRC of the ICSI; CS Sasmita Panda, Chairperson; CS Jyotirmoy Mishra, former Chairman; CS Srimanta Baboo, Vice Chairman; CS Nilakantha Samal, Secretary; and CS Jyotirmaya Panigrahi, Treasurer of the Chapter.
The Conclave was well attended and highly appreciated by NCLT practitioners, members of the Institute, other professionals and corporate executives who have attended the conclave in large numbers.
