If I Ever Ask

Sanjay Bhatt

If I ever ask the emptiness in my heart,
Who has tortured whom in this quiet, cruel part,
The echoes whisper softly, as shadows start to loom,
It is you, they say, who has tortured me in this room.

In the silent depths where no light dares to tread,
Your memories linger, where love once bled.
They carve their way through flesh and bone,
Leaving scars unseen, where I stand alone.

But was it you who truly did the harm,
Or was it I who succumbed to your charm?
For in the dance of pain and desire,
I found myself drawn to the fire.

Now, in the void where your laughter once played,
I grapple with the ghosts that refuse to fade.
And if I ever ask, in this hollow space,
The answer is clear in the tears that trace.

You have tortured me, in ways unknown,
Yet, I realize, I am not alone.
For in the emptiness, I see the truth,
It is I who gave my heart to you.
