Kharagpur Division Observes ‘Swachh Railgadi (Clean Train)’ under Swachhata Pakhwada 2025

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, the Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway observed “Swachh Railgadi (Clean Train)” on Sunday with the aim of ensuring cleanliness and hygiene onboard trains and enhancing passenger comfort.
Teams comprising officers, supervisors, and staff conducted intensive inspections of identified special trains at various stations to assess the standards of On Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS). The inspections focused on overall coach cleanliness, toilet condition, waste disposal, and availability of cleaning materials.
Passengers were also encouraged to share their feedback on cleanliness. The division is identifying the best-performing OBHS staff and supervisors for recognition and awards to promote excellence in maintaining hygiene standards.
“Do’s and Don’ts” posters highlighting cleanliness, waste segregation, and anti-littering measures were displayed in coaches to raise awareness among passengers about their role in keeping trains clean.
Additionally, intensive cleaning drives were organized at different stations under the division to complement onboard cleanliness efforts, ensuring a cleaner and more hygienic railway environment.
The Kharagpur Division reiterated its commitment to providing passengers with a clean, hygienic, and friendly travel experience through continuous monitoring and the active participation of railway staff and passengers alike.
