Kolkata rape-murder case: MHA directs states to send law and order report on doctors' protest
New Delhi (18/08/2024): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the states to send law and order report every two hours on the ongoing protest of doctors. The MHA has requested regular updates on the law and order situation from state and Union Territory police forces in response to the Kolkata incident. The Ministry provided the state police forces the fax and WhatsApp numbers and e-mail ID where the two-hourly situation report can be sent. On August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered while on duty at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
A civic volunteer of Kolkata police was arrested in connection with the crime the next day.
The case has been handed over to CBI by police.
