MAHANGA MINOR GIRL DEATH CASE: ODISHA STATE COMMISSION FOR WOMEN REGISTERS SUO MOTO CASE
Bhubaneswar:(17/08/2023): The Odisha State Commission for Women on Thursday registered a suo moto case in connection with the death of a minor girl at Mahanga in Cuttack district. The Commission has directed the SP to submit report within 15 days. A team of police questioned physical education teacher of Gokan High School Anup Ray and his mother Bijaylaxmi Ray at Cheligarh village under Jagarsinghpur police limits to obtain more information associated with the mysterious death of the Class 10 student. The girl student had died on July 16 under mysterious circumstances and it is alleged that her body was disposed of in haste without the conduct of a post mortem. The mystery shrouding her death deepened as a purported audio of telephonic conversation between BJD leader and former Mahanga block chairman Sarat Nayak and the mother of the physical education teacher of the school went viral on social media.
The girl was allegedly in a relationship with the teacher and she died by suicide after her family members came to know about the matter.
In the purported audio clip, Nayak was heard telling the teacher's mother that the body of the girl was disposed of without post mortem to destroy evidence.
