A nationwide strike has been observed across various parts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, as 10 central trade unions protest against the privatization of public sector undertakings. The unions demand permanent solutions to employment and unemployment issues.
The strike has led to roadblocks and demonstrations at prominent locations in Bhubaneswar, including the Master Canteen area, railway stations, and bus stands.
A group of bandh supporters staged a road blockade and stopped vehicles from plying on the busy stretch between Master Canteen and Vani Vihar.
Protests have also been reported in Cuttack and Rourkela, with shops and markets shut down and bus services affected.
Roadblocks and demonstrations have caused disruptions to daily life, with many people facing difficulties in commuting.
However, emergency services and educational institutions have been exempted from the purview of the strike.
