Over 500 inmates of Sundargarh jail launch hunger strike

More than 500 inmates at Sundargarh District Jail went on a hunger strike on Wednesday, refusing food and water in protest against the newly appointed jail superintendent.

According to information, the inmates alleged that they are being provided inadequate food and are being denied meetings with their family members.

Following the protest, additional police personnel were deployed inside the jail premises to maintain law and order. 

The jail authorities have started monitoring the situation closely.
