NO PREDICTION MADE FOR CYCLONE: IMD BHUBANESWAR DIRECTOR
Bhubaneswar (19/05/2024): Bhubaneswar Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director Manorama Mohanty on Sunday said that no prediction has been made for cyclone, though a low pressure is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal by May 22. Mohanty said, "The low pressure may move initially northeastwards and concentrate into a depression over the central parts of Bay of Bengal around May 24. Conditions are favourable for formation of the low pressure area.
So, there is no need to panic." Several parts of Odisha may witness thunderstorm activities in the next couple of days.
As cyclones usually occur in the month of May, we are keeping a close watch on the weather related developments, she added.
