Odisha CM unfurls Tricolour in Cuttack, warns against violence on women
Cuttack/Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty) : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi issued a strong warning to anti-social elements involved in violence against women, stating that such offenders will have only one destination — jail. He asserted that no atrocity against women will be tolerated and reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to ensuring women’s safety.
Addressing the people during the 77th Republic Day celebration held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, the Chief Minister said that no political protection would be extended to corrupt officers and employees, adding that corrupt officials are now fearful due to strict government action.
Emphasizing good governance, he said people’s rights would remain protected under a people-centric government.
The CM claimed that he has personally met around 50,000 people so far, and that the problems of nearly 15,000 individuals have already been resolved.
Describing Odisha as a welfare-oriented state, CM Majhi said the state government is ensuring the delivery of basic facilities and preventing deprivation of citizens’ rights. He added that people are benefiting across multiple sectors, including education and healthcare.
Referring to national initiatives, the CM said the Make in India programme is helping realize the vision of a self-reliant India. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the holistic development of women, farmers, youth, and the poor, and highlighted women-centric schemes such as Subhadra.
The CM said Odisha has emerged as a preferred destination for investors, while the double-engine government is strengthening infrastructure across the state.
Stressing the importance of education, he said the government is committed to providing quality education and that visible changes will soon be seen in the primary education system.
“We are not just repainting schools; we are strengthening their infrastructure,” he said, adding that the country has witnessed a renaissance over the past 11 years.
Meanwhile, Odisha Governor Haribabu Kambhampati hoisted the National Flag at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar at the State-level Republic Day celebrations.
Tableau of 14 departments participated. Five folk dance and folk art groups from different districts also took part.
