Odisha government asks hospitals to enhance surveillance against monkeypox

Bhubaneswar (19/09/2024): The Odisha government on Thursday asked the hospitals and medical institutions in the state to enhance surveillance against monkeypox. Director of Public Health Dr Nilakantha Mishra has written a letter to the Directors of Bhubaneswar Airport, Capital Hospital, CDMOs, Public Health Officers, Deans and Principals of Medical Colleges and Port Health Officer of Paradip Port issuing directions to be vigilant for those having history of travel to affected countries in the last 21 days with unexplained rash, fever with other symptoms. International travelers health desk at airports and seaports or with crew coming from the affected countries or passengers at land borders at Point of Entries (PoEs) to be kept as high suspicion passengers.
The suspected cases identified at PoE to be isolated at transit isolation facilities and information to be shared immediately with State or District Surveillance Officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
