Odisha government puts southern districts on alert amid weather predictions
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Considering the forecasts issued by a foreign weather model and the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Odisha government has directed all district Collectors to remain alert and prepared to tackle any possible situation.
Two low-pressure systems have been predicted to form over the Bay of Bengal. While a U.S.-based weather agency has indicated the likelihood of a cyclone, the IMD has so far predicted only heavy rainfall.
In view of the IMD’s forecast, southern Odisha districts have been placed under a red alert, with instructions issued to local administrations to stay vigilant against possible rain-related incidents, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Tuesday.
The Minister said that the state government is fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
