Odisha tableau gets green signal for Republic Day Parade 2026

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha will once again be part of the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, as its tableau has been approved for the Republic Day parade 2026 in the national capital.
The Union Ministry of Defence has cleared proposals from 17 states and Union Territories, including Odisha, to showcase their tableaux at the grand parade on January 26, 2026, along Kartavya Path. 

Official sources said the Centre has instructed the Chief Secretaries of the selected states to ensure that all tableaux are completed and ready by January 19.

Through its tableau, the Odisha government aims to present the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and artistic excellence before a national and international audience.
Notably, Odisha’s tableau proposal was not selected for the Republic Day parade in 2025. 

Last year, the state had proposed to highlight the unique handloom traditions of Kandhamal textiles and Maniabandha sarees, but the selection committee did not approve the entry.

Despite the rejection, the Union Government allowed Odisha to showcase its tableau at Bharat Parva 2025 in New Delhi, offering an alternative platform to display the state’s cultural richness.
