PARENTS' ASSOCIATIONS OF MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN CELEBRATED WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY
Bhubaneswar(21/03/2024): The PAMRC (Parents' Associations of Mentally Retarded Children), Odisha celebrated World Down Syndrome Day on Thursday at Bishnu Mandira Conference Hall, Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar. Down Syndrome children along with their parents, mentally retarded children with their parents residing in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area attended the programme.
Resource persons and guests delivered their speech regarding Down Syndrome.
This year with the UN theme 'End the Stereotypical'', the event was graced with awareness program, felicitation ceremony, vocational accomplishments of the children and cultural fest.
Down Syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome.
Chief guest Ashish Kumar, Chief speaker Dr Rojalin Patsani Mishra, President of Parichaya Foundation were present.
Dr Radhika Chakrabarty, MBBS Md (Psychiatry)AIIMS Bhubaneswar graced the event as guest of honour.
Mr.Ashish Sir summarised regarding Legal Guardianship for these Intellectual Disability Children to their parents. He discussed about Niramaya health Insurance and other facilities of the Government of India.
Dr Rojalin elaborated regarding awareness, sensitization and empowerment .
PAMRC,Secretary S N Parida, Joint Secretary Subhagini Sahu, Executive Member Bharati Parida, Vice President Ashok Kumar Jena and staff members Lakhmi Priya Ojha, Bijaya were also present.
President Braja Kishore Tripathy presided over the programme.
