PGT Teachers undergo five-day training program in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): 
A five-day inducation training program for Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs) in History and English subjects, working in non-government aided higher secondary schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education(DHSE), Odisha, commenced today at IMAGE, Shiripur, Bhubaneswar. The training program has brought together 100 PGT teachers from across the state. The inaugural session was graced by Subhashree Nanda, Additional Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, Sasmita Mali, Joint Director, DHSE, Snigdha Mishra, Joint Director, DHSE, Julie Mangaraj, Joint Director, DHSE, and Deputy Director Jitendra Nayak.

In her keynote address, Additional Secretary Nanda emphasized the importance of a compassionate and value-based teaching approach for the holistic development and character building of students. She highlighted the need for a stress-free, friendly learning environment and called for greater parental awareness. She also underscored the relevance of 21st-century education priorities including skill development, vocational training, and digital education as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP). During the session, Joint Director Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address and briefed participants on the objectives of the training program. Snigdha Mishra offered the vote of thanks.

This training program focuses on enhancing the professional competencies of PGT teachers. Key modules include Odisha Career Portal, classroom management, teacher professional development, pedagogical skills, and group activities. Sessions will also cover the formation of Aspirational Schools.

Based on feedback from previous training programs; this initiative incorporates practical exposure to the use of the iGOT Karmayogi app, vocational education, scholarship processes, promoting nutritional well-being for healthier classrooms, and developing climate-resilient schools.

This initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to empowering educators and aligning Odisha’s school education system with national educational reforms.
