PURI SRIMANDIR MANAGING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS OPENING OF RATNA BHANDAR DURING NEXT RATH YATRA

Puri(04/08/2023): The Puri Srimandir Managing Committee on Friday recommended opening of Ratna Bhandar during the next Rath Yatra. After the meeting, Puri district collector Samarth Verma said, "The state government will be requested to allow the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to reopen and repair the Ratna Bhandar during Rath Yatra 2024.

The ASI had issued a letter to the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration to inspect the Ratna Bhandar.

They requested to inspect the Bhandar during Rath Yatra when the Lords are out on their nine-day sojourn to the Gundicha Temple." It was also decided that the Banakalagi ritual will be conducted on Wednesdays.

The ritual will be conducted twice a month on Wednesdays.

In case there are other rituals on a particular Wednesday, then the Banakalagi ritual will be conducted on Thursday.
