Stop taking antibiotics without doctor’s advice: PM Modi on Mann Ki Baat

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people across India to avoid taking medicines, especially antibiotics, without consulting a qualified doctor, warning that such practices can be harmful to health.
Speaking during the 129th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said that self-medication, particularly the misuse of antibiotics, poses serious health risks and should be strictly avoided. He emphasised the importance of following medical advice and completing prescribed courses of treatment.

During the address, PM Modi also paid rich tribute to Parbati Giri, a noted freedom fighter from Odisha. He recalled that she joined the Quit India Movement at the young age of 16 and later dedicated her life to social service. After Independence, Parbati Giri established several institutions to support orphans and destitute women, earning respect for her selfless contribution to society.

Highlighting India’s achievements in 2025, the Prime Minister said the country made significant progress on multiple fronts. He noted that Operation Sindoor showcased India’s strength and resolve, adding that the successful operation made every Indian proud. He also spoke about the Indian Women Cricket Team's World Cup win.
