Ramakrushna Mahapatra rejoins service of Lord Jagannath

Puri(By Abhishek Mohanty): Senior servitor and Daitapati Niyog Secretary Ramakrushna Das Mahapatra has been reinstated after 30 days' suspension. He has rejoined the service of Lord Jagannath. Ramakrushna was suspended for allegedly engaging in activities that went against tradition. During his suspension, he was barred from entering the premises of Lord Jagannath Temple and participating in the Lord's service. The controversy surrounding him began when he visited the Digha Jagannath Temple.
It is alleged that Mahapatra provided Nabakalebar surplus wood that was used for making the idols of Digha Jagannath Temple in West Bengal.

There was opposition to renaming Digha as 'Dham'. With his suspension lifted, Ramakrushna has now resumed his duties in the temple.
