Phaguna Holi Meet Celebrated through Story and Poetry by ‘Srusti’ and ‘Abhyudayam’
Balasore, March 5 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The residents celebrated Holi through 'Katha o Kabita' near Palaspur Chhak under Ganguti Panchayat of Sadar Block.
The festival of colours was celebrated for the first time in a unique way in the rural setting through the joint initiative of local social organisations 'Srusti' and 'Abhyudayam'.
On this occasion, Government Deputy Chief Whip and eminent MLA of Remuna, Gobinda Chandra Das, attended the programme and addressed the gathering. He urged people to avoid the use of chemical colours during Holi. He also informed that the widening of the road from Kuruda Chhak via Palaspur Chhak to Mathsahi would begin soon. He described this announcement as a Holi gift for the local residents.
Spreading the message of a completely intoxication-free Holi, several participants presented stories and poems. Among them were chief of of 'Pratibhashree' poet Prashant Das, former Sarpanch Birupakshya Mahapatra, young poet Madhusudan Mishra, satirical poet Padmalochan Pradhan, Prabhakar Sahu, chief of 'Srusti' Sanat Kumar Parida, Jayanta Hans Raj, Dr. Samiksha Das, and engineer Debendra Dhinda.
Poet Sudhakar Sethi conducted the programme, while Shakti Prasad Raut delivered the welcome address and Debi Prasad Raut proposed the vote of thanks.
Among others, Suraj Parida, Divyajyoti Raut, Sudhakar Raut, Bhagaban Sahu, Rajanikanta Sahu, Parama Nanda Singh, and Subhranshu Raut were present and assisted in organising the event.
