Regional “Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 Viksit Bharat-Viksit Odisha Consultation Workshop” Held in Balasore

Balasore, 15/05 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The Regional Consultation Workshop on “Odisha Vision 2036 and Viksit Bharat-Viksit Odisha for 2047” was held today at the NOSi Auditorium in Balasore.

Gracing the event as the chief guest was Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti and Tourism, Smt. Pravati Parida. The event was also attended by Balasore MP Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Bhadrak MP Shri Abhimanyu Sethi, Jajpur MP Shri Rabindra Narayan Behera, Government Deputy Chief Whip and Remuna MLA Shri Gobinda Chandra Das, Balasore Sadar MLA Shri Manas Kumar Dutta, Basta MLA Smt. Subashini Jena, Nilagiri MLA Shri Santosh Khatua, Simulia MLA Shri Padmalochan Panda, Zilla Parishad President Shri Narayan Pradhan, and Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Smt. Usha Padhee, among others.

The workshop began with an introduction of the dignitaries by Dr. Madhusmita Samantray, Additional CEO of the Zilla Parishad. Balasore Collector Shri Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas formally welcomed the dignitaries and invited them to share their valuable suggestions on Odisha Vision 2036 and Viksit Bharat-Viksit Odisha 2047.

In her keynote address, Deputy CM Smt. Pravati Parida highlighted the importance of this vision in light of Odisha’s centenary as a linguistically organized state in 2036 and India's centenary of independence in 2047. She emphasized the need for Odisha to work with foresight across 36 key sectors and arrive at actionable insights through meaningful deliberations.

Smt. Usha Padhee elaborated on the state's strategic priorities under this vision—emphasizing the importance of labor-intensive industries, making Odisha an investment destination, fostering urbanization as a growth engine, focusing on IT/ITES, enhancing irrigation coverage, applying technology for good governance, and establishing Odisha as a hub of skilled manpower and education in Eastern India.

MP Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi stressed the need to eradicate corruption as a foundation for a developed Odisha and India. MPs Shri Abhimanyu Sethi and Shri Rabindra Narayan Behera also shared their perspectives on the roadmap toward a developed Odisha under the national vision.

The workshop proceeded with three rounds of consultations involving various stakeholders and intellectuals. These were moderated by Balasore Collector Shri Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas, Balasore Sadar Sub-Collector Shri Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshrike, Nilagiri Sub-Collector Smt. Subhashree Rath, and District Tourism Officer Shri Amlan Nayak.

Suggestions from entrepreneurs focused on streamlining the single-window system. Heritage tourism was discussed with reference to investment in star hotels by Maharani Mrunalika Bhanja Deo. Other topics included the integration of tribal knowledge, art, and Ayurveda; the development of agriculture, fisheries, and ports as highlighted by former MP Shri Rabindra Kumar Jena; and enhancing sports infrastructure, mentioned in the context of Olympian Dutee Chand.

DIG (Eastern Range) Dr. Satyajit Nayak and SP Shri Raj Prasad addressed the modernization and cyber security aspects of policing. PXE and ITR Directors emphasized the role of science, research, and innovation in national development and self-reliance.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Collector Shri Suryabanshi Mayur Vikas, marking the end of a productive consultation session.
