Retired Administrative Officer Ashok Tarenia no more

Cuttack (By Abhishek Mohanty): Ashok Tarenia, a retired administrative officer, former Commissioner of the Excise Department, and a noted columnist, passed away on Tuesday at his residence in Nua Bazaar, Cuttack. He had been suffering from illness for the past few days and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

His family members, including his wife Amita Tarenia, son Subrat Tarenia, daughter Shilpa Tarenia, son-in-law Bikash Agrawal, and his brother Durga Prasad Tarenia, former Director General of Police of West Bengal, were present during his final moments.

The last rites were performed at Swargadwar in Puri, where his son Subrat Tarenia lit the funeral pyre. 

Earlier, the mortal remains were taken to Shastri Nagar in Nuabazar to enable relatives, friends, and well-wishers to pay their last respects.

Several prominent personalities, including Lal Bahadur Maitri, party functionaries, Ward No. 54 Corporator Tapas Ranjan Samantray, Excise Superintendent Amarendra Jena, and many other distinguished individuals, attended the final rites and paid homage to the departed soul.
