Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan backs Gajapati Maharaj’s stand on Ratha Jatra
Puri(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan has expressed complete support for the recent statement of Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb, who termed any untimely or unauthorised conduct of Ratha Jatra as a “serious deviation” from established Jagannath traditions.
In a statement issued on this occasion, the Sansthan said that such acts amount to misinformation and show disrespect towards Shree Jagannath culture. It urged the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and the Government of Odisha to take immediate and strong action against those responsible.
The organization has also appealed to the people of Odisha, Jagannath devotees across the world, and institutions working for the promotion of Jagannath culture to raise their voices against what it described as an unacceptable act.
Reiterating traditional beliefs, the statement said that Lord Jagannath is regarded as Shree Hari-embodying Shree Ram and Shree Krishna- and as Daru Brahma, the supreme creator.
It questioned how individuals or institutions could act independently in matters related to such deeply held religious traditions and circulate posters or messages that, according to the organization, misrepresent Jagannath culture.
The statement further alleged that such actions are creating confusion among devotees and warned that earlier saints and acharyas had expressed concerns about disorder in religious practices during Kaliyuga. References were made to traditional texts such as Chausathi Patal, Bhima Bhoi Chautisha, and the Bhagabata, which speak of troubled times.
Emphasizing unity, the organization stated that any form of insult or disrespect towards Shree Jagannath culture is unacceptable and called for collective vigilance to protect long-established religious traditions.
