Sniffer dogs to guard forests in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (28/08/2024): The Odisha Forest department has decided to rope in sniffer dogs to guard forests and sanctuaries in the state. On an experimemtal basis, ten sniffer dogs will be engaged in five forests- Similipal, Satkosia, Athagarh and Hindol. This was informed by Principal Chief Comservator of Forests (PCCF) Susanta Nanda on Wednesday. Sniffer dogs will help in detecting bait-bombs laid to poach elephants mostly in Hindol- Dhenkanal-Angul and other parts of the state. Nanda said that best breed and best trained dogs from private players who will be selected after tender process.
