State Level five-day training programme for KGBVs wardens begins
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): A five-day residential training programme for Master Trainers, aimed at strengthening and empowering the wardens of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV), has been inaugurated under the School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha. The programme is being jointly organised by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Government of India, and the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhubaneswar.
The inauguration witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Ananya Das, SPD, OSEPA; Smt. Sangita Behera, Additional Director, OSEPA; Prof. Manasi Goswami, Chairman, Regional Institute of Education; Dr. Santwana Mishra, Project Director, NIEPA; Dr. Santosh Kumar Raut, Joint Director, OSEPA; Dr. Sarita M., Coordinator, RIE; and Lahari Mohanty, Gender Coordinator.
As Chief Guest, Ananya Das highlighted the importance of the training programme, stating that wardens play a critical role in supporting girls' education and addressing their concerns with sensitivity. She emphasized the need to reduce dropout rates among girls, especially in tribal-dominated regions, and underscored the significance of child-centric education.
Prof. Manasi Goswami stressed the importance of ensuring the mental and physical well-being of girls residing in hostels, highlighting training areas such as self-defence, health awareness, and enhanced safety protocols. Dr. Santwana Mishra of NIEPA spoke about strengthening life skills, self-defence, and group activities for hostel girls. Earlier, Sangita Behera, Additional Director, OSEPA, delivered the welcome address.
More than 30 senior trainers and gender coordinators from across the state are participating in this five-day training programme, which will continue until December 12, 2025.
