TIGER CENSUS BEGINS AT SIMILIPAL RESERVE
Baripada(18/10/2023): The Odisha government has started tiger census began at Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday. The tiger census will be conducted by the forest department in all areas including Satakosia, Kaptipada and Bisoi under Baripada, Rairangpur and Karanjia sub-divisions in the district. The census is being carried out in three phases.
In first phase, a sign survey will be done till October 20.
Similarly, a line-transect survey will be carried out in the second phase beginning from October 25 to October 28. The third phase of the census will be conducted through the camera trapping method.
It will be held from November 1 to November 25.
