Videos on Snana Purnima, Bhakta Suna Mohapatra and Rathayatra released by Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Videos on Snana Purnima, Bhakta Suna Mohapatra and Rathayatra were released by the Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan at Baba Akhandalamani Temple in Puri.

In the coming Snana Purnima, Lord Jagannath will perform the sacred bathing ritual. The Lord of the Universe, Shree Jagannath, along with His siblings, will bathe on the Snana Mandap using 108 pots of water.
Prior to Snana Purnima, the traditional Senapata Lagi ritual is completed. As the first festival of the world-famous Rathayatra, Snana Yatra marks the beginning of vibrant and dynamic festivities at the Srimandir. Before the deities take their place on the Snana Mandap, special rituals known as Senapata Lagi Niti are properly performed by the temple servitors.
During Jyeshtha Purnima or Snana Purnima, a great sense of activity is seen among the temple servitors. At the same time, Raghaba Das Math and Gopal Tirtha Math also become very active in service to the Lord. According to tradition, before coming to the Snana Bedi, the Chaturdha Murti (four deities) are brought from the Ratna Bedi to the Snana Bedi in Pahandi procession, swaying with decorated Tahiyas (head ornaments). The exquisite Tahiyas worn by Lord Jagannath and Maa Subhadra during this procession are prepared at Raghav Das Math, while the Tahiya for Lord Balabhadra is prepared at Gopal Tirtha Math.

After bathing with 108 pots of water, the Lord is believed to fall ill with fever. He is then treated with herbal medicines by the royal physician (Rajavaidya) at the Anasara Pindi. During this period, countless devotees visit Lord Alarnath at Brahmagiri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath. Thereafter, on the second day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha, the Lord travels with His elder brother and sister to His maternal aunt’s house on the chariots.

Devotees from all over the world eagerly await the divine sight of this Rathayatra.
According to the statement of the revered Gajapati Maharaja, conducting Rathayatra on improper days is a serious deviation. These rituals are performed strictly as per the Lord’s divine instructions.

Unfortunately, some organizations, by conducting untimely Rathayatra and Snana Yatra, are spreading misinformation and showing disrespect toward Shree Jagannath culture. Rathayatra and Snana Yatra cannot be performed throughout the year, and no compromise can be made with the established daily rituals.
The rituals of the Lord are unchangeable, and special attention must be paid to this matter. May the Lord grant wisdom to such people, and may the welfare of the world prevail, said Shree Jagannath culture promoter Dr. Narayan Mohapatra.
