XIM University's School of Sustainability successfully hosts annual Sustainability Dialogue Series
Bhubaneswar (04/10/2024): The School of Sustainability, XIM University (New Campus), in association with SM CAS - Career Advisory Services, the Placement Committee of the School of Sustainability, successfully hosted their annual Sustainability Dialogue Series on the topic “Strategic Green Transition: Leveraging Cross-Industry Innovations for Sustainable Growth and a Resilient Future” on Friday.
The event was inaugurated through a welcome note by Prof.Dr.Sutapa Pati, Dean, School of Sustainability, followed by an introductory address by Prof.Saveeta Mohanty, Associate Dean of the Career Advisory Services, XIM University, and Prof.Dr.Vikrant Vijay Patil, Faculty Coordinator of SM CAS. The agenda for the day included two sessions – a Speaker Dialogue segment in the forenoon, which was a series of back-to-back enlightening interactions, featuring Dr.Pramod Pandey, Global Health & Safety Engineering Leader (Corporate) at Philips, and Sunila Sahasrabudhe, Head ESG at Biocon.
The speakers took the audience through key concepts, inculcating a mindset of “wanting to change”, focusing on green transition and cross-industry synergies.
Sahasrabudhe further examined crucial concepts like resource optimization, workforce development, technology transfer, and enhancing customer experiences.
The subsequent session was taken up by Anand S.Kulkarni, Technical Director- ESG at KPMG India, who emphasized on the vital role the concept of circular economy and technology play in bringing forth decarbonization across various sectors.
Anantharaman Subramaniyan, Vice President (Strategy & Sustainability) at Siemens, spoke next, focusing on how technology accelerates sustainable growth, both strengthening and reinforcing each other.
The latter half of the event was a Panel Discussion on “Corporate Strategy and Process Innovation: Integrating Decarbonization into ESG Frameworks”, moderated by Abha Mishra, Head of Office - Odisha, UNDP.
The discussion explored strategic planning a company should take, enhancing good governance, and urging public persuasion into a sustainable lifestyle.
This essentially touched upon all three aspects of an ESG framework.
The event brought in a distinguished forum, where thought leaders and pioneers of the industry came together to exchange and explore cutting-edge ideas, solutions, and strategies aimed at creating a more sustainable future.
Amidst engaging segments of speaker dialogues and a stimulating panel discussion, participants were encouraged to make the event interactive.
The Sustainability Dialogue Series was successful in fostering valuable discussions, sharing key insights into innovative solutions and emerging trends to move towards a resilient, sustainable future for all.
XIM University was honoured to host Anand S.Kulkarni (Technical Director- ESG at KPMG India), Anantharaman Subramaniyan (Vice President, Strategy & Sustainability, at Siemens), Dr.Pramod Pandey-Global Health & Safety Engineering Leader (Corporate) at Philips, Sunila Sahasrabudhe (Head ESG at Biocon) attended as speakers. Abha Mishra, Head of Office - Odisha, United Nations Development Program was the Moderator for the panel discussion. Dr.Pramod Pandey spoke about the of Philips to improve people's health and wellbeing meaningful innovation.
He said, "We aim to improve 2.5 billion lives per year by 2030." Sunila Sahasrabudhe highlighted the benefits of leveraging cross-industry innovations for sustainable growth and a resilient future. Anand S.Kulkarni said, "Decarbonisation will support organisations.
Decarbonisation in value chain is becoming a new key for license to operate for businesses.
It is also supporting the businesses in addressing the underlying physical and transitional risks." .
