1 DEAD, 5 INJURED AS VAN CARRYING PICNICKERS HITS STATIONARY TRUCK

Daspalla(21/12/2023): A van rear-ended a stationary truck on NH-57 near Takera Square under Daspalla police station in Nayagarh district on Thursday. One passenger of the van died and five others sustained critical injuries in the accident. The injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital. According to information, the van with a picnic party of 15-16 youths was returning from Daringibadi in Kandhamal district to Athagarh in Cuttack. The mishap took place due to low visibility caused by dense fog. The truck was also parked on a curve on the road, which is said to be the main reason behind the bus driver's failure in spotting the vehicle on the front.
