135th Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti celebrated at CSIR – IMMT
Bhubaneswar(14/04/2025) : The 135th birthday of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm at CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of around 300 participants, including 100 students from various schools across Bhubaneswar. The event commenced with the inaugural address by Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT, who highlighted Dr.Ambedkar's pivotal contributions to social justice, equality, and nation-building.
Dr.R.Sakthivel, Vice-Chairman of the Celebration Committee, welcomed the dignitaries and participants with an inspiring address. The Chief Guest Pandava Behera, IFS (Retd.), Former Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Odisha, addressed the gathering, shedding light on Dr.Ambedkar’s life, legacy, and contributions to Indian society.
He also encouraged the students to follow the path of education, empowerment, and equality, as envisioned by Dr.Ambedkar. The event’s Keynote Address was delivered by Samarendra Bhutia, Officer on Special Duty, SCST Research and Training Institute, and Assistant Director, Academy of Tribal Languages and Culture, Odisha.
He spoke on “The Life and Legacy of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and the Need for Development of the Weaker Sections”, emphasizing Dr.Ambedkar’s vision for inclusive growth and empowerment. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions organized to mark the occasion, including students from RRL Project U.P.School, Adruta Children’s Home, and others.
The function served as a platform to engage and motivate young minds on the values and ideals of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr.Santosh Kumar Behera, Senior Principal Scientist and Convener of the Celebration Committee, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, school children, and organizing members for making the event a grand success.
