4 killed, 20 injured as gas tanker rams into roadside tea stall

Berhampur (22/08/2024): As many as four people were killed, while 20 others critically injured after a private bus collided head-on with a gas tanker near Samarjhola Chhak in Berhampur of Ganjam district in the wee hours of Thursday. The mishap took place when the ill-fated private bus from Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district was en route to Berhampur.

It collided head-on with the gas tanker coming from the opposite direction. Under the impact of the collision, the driver of the gas tanker lost control over the wheels and the vehicle rammed into a roadside tea stall.

Three customers died at the shop and one of the passengers of the bus also lost his life in the mishap.

The injured were taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

The condition of many of them is stated to be serious. The district administration officials and police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
