74th Foundation Day of Balasore Postal Division Celebrated; Postal Employees Honoured for Excellence service 

Balasore, February 1 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 74th Foundation Day of the Balasore Postal Division, along with the 143rd Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Day, was celebrated with enthusiasm and pride at 11 a.m. at the office premises of the Superintendent of Post Offices, Balasore Division, located at Sahadevkhunta.

On this occasion, a formal meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Tapas Kumar Dash, Superintendent of Post Offices, Balasore Division. Satyabadi Biswal, DDM (PLI), Odisha Postal Circle, attended as the chief guest, while Basanta Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Post Offices, Sambalpur Division, delivered the keynote address. Eminent guests included Banamali Patra, retired Additional Director (Postal Life Insurance), Assam Postal Circle, and Biranchi Narayan Samal, Senior Branch Manager, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). The programme was conducted by Rabindra Kumar Patra and Namisa Barik.

The speakers highlighted the 74 years of dedicated service rendered by the Balasore Postal Division and emphasised the importance of Postal Life Insurance (PLI), which provides a safe, simple, and reliable life insurance facility to government employees as well as the general public.
Senior officers stated that India Post has transformed itself into a people-centric and service-oriented institution by adopting modern technology, while maintaining public trust, reliability, and accountability. They appreciated the sincerity and hard work of postal employees and extended congratulations for their committed service.

The role of the Department of Posts in providing insurance coverage to both urban and rural populations through PLI and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) schemes was also highlighted. 

Discussions were held on key services such as India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), speed post and parcel services, Aadhaar services, and e-commerce support services.
As part of the Foundation Day and PLI Day celebrations, awareness programmes for customers were also organised. The Balasore Postal Division reiterated its commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and efficient postal and financial services in line with the objective of “Postal Service – Public Service.”

Towards the end of the programme, Superintendents of Post Offices from Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Bhadrak districts, along with retired Superintendents, were felicitated. Several postal employees were also honoured for their outstanding performance and dedicated service.
