Annual Festival by 'Samayara Chakra' Held in Balasore: Poetry Recital Celebrates Voices of 80+ Poets

Despite inclement weather, the 14th Annual Festival of Samayara Chakra, a monthly socio-literary magazine published from Balasore, was held successfully at the Gandhi Smruti Bhavan premises. The celebration featured a vibrant poetry recital and a felicitation ceremony recognising local talents.
Speakers emphasized that Samayara Chakra has evolved beyond the boundaries of a publication, emerging as a platform that actively contributes to social awareness, cultural engagement, and regional development.
The event, convened by editor Sarbeshwar Jena and presided over by poet and social activist Abhaya Das, was inaugurated by Aparahna editor Bansidhar Jena. Key guests included Balasore Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta as Chief Guest, Basta MLA Smt. Subasini Jena as Chief Speaker, youth leader Bikram Panda, environmentalist Sumanta Kumar Jena, academician Sumanta Kumar Sahu, senior journalist Shashiranjan Mallik, youth leader Bikash Kumar Padhi, Nutana Barta editor Vibhupada Das, and Yatra Singhavahini founder Sanjeeb Padhi, who all addressed the gathering. Editor Satyabhama Jena delivered the editorial note and introduced the guests.
On this occasion, several individuals were felicitated for their notable contributions, and the Samayara Chakra annual special edition was unveiled. Suhranglina Nayak presented a devotional song titled "Ratha Chale Ghai Ghai", recently released on Siddharth TV. Poet Nityananda Panigrahi's poetry collection Prathama Pakhuda Golapi Golapara was also launched.
In the first session of poetry recital and discussion, chaired by poet Brajendranath Giri and moderated by fiction writer Shantanu Pattnaik, speakers included academician and social activist Purnachandra Bugudei, main speaker Dr. Ratnakar Singh, senior poets Kalikingkar Das and Dr. Kumar Babuli, poets Anjali Panda and Hadibandhu Patra, Acharya Bijaya Ji, Dr. Sharatchandra Mishra, and Amar Kumar Pal. All praised the growing literary relevance of Samayara Chakra and wished for its wider outreach in the future. Over 40 poets recited their self-composed poems. The session was coordinated by poet Prabhat Kumar Acharya.
The concluding celebrations and cultural events were conducted under the direction of Prachi Creations’ Manoj Kumar Nayak. In the second session, presided over by Editor Sarbeshwar Jena, the Chief Guest was Remuna Block Chairman Rajendra Kumar Raut, Chief Speaker social worker Shraddhanjali Ray, and notable guests included social worker Samonath Bishwal, Utpal Kumar Kar, Mita Pattnaik, Ritika Ji, Yashoda Nandan Ash, Kalyani Nanda, Sushanta Kumar Behera, Amaresh Patra, and Ratikanta Das. All commended and awarded young children for their talent and spirit.
The programme saw active participation and support from Susangama Jena, Santosh Pattnaik, Priyanshu Behera, and poet Ramesh Behera. Child artist Suhani Sai Jena performed a welcome song, while the event concluded with a melodious musical performance by singer Kalyani Mandal, enchanting the audience. More than 500 readers, well-wishers, and talented individuals attended the event, making it a grand success.
