Anu Garg appointed Odisha’s first woman Chief Secretary

Senior IAS officer Anu Garg has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha, becoming the first woman to hold the state’s top bureaucratic post.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Wednesday issued a notification confirming her appointment.
A 1991-batch IAS officer, Anu Garg succeeds Manoj Ahuja as Chief Secretary. Prior to this appointment, she was serving as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Convergence Department. She was also holding additional charge as Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department.
With her elevation, Anu Garg has created history by becoming the first woman IAS officer to assume the role of Chief Secretary in Odisha. Her appointment is being seen as a significant milestone in the state’s administrative history.
The state government has expressed confidence that her experience and leadership will further strengthen governance and administrative efficiency in Odisha.
