‘Binyasa’ – A Unique Event on ‘Novel and Novelist’ Hosted by ‘Prajapati’

Balasore, 22/05 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A unique literary event titled ‘Binyasa’, focusing on contemporary novels and novelists and their societal influence, was organized yesterday by the literary forum ‘Prajapati’ at the local Atithya Bhavan in a deeply reflective atmosphere.

The event was presided over by poet Prashanta Das, the founder of the ‘Akshara’, the literature wing of 'Prajapati'. The discussion session ‘Binyasa’ was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by guest novelists Nibaran Jena, Gangadhar Bishwal, and Chittaranjan Chiranjeet. The guests also delivered speeches on the structure and themes of novels and short stories. They emphasized that every novel reflects the ethos of its time and mirrors the prevailing societal issues. The novel and its social impact are inherently intertwined. Even if the influence of a novel, story, or poem is not always direct, it often has a subtle but powerful effect, they observed.

As special guests, poet Shridev, poet-editor Krushna Kumar Mohanty, and Dr. Santosh Kumar Nayak shared their thoughts on ‘The Social Impact of Novels’, stating that when a novel's narrative embodies social responsibility and commitment, it profoundly influences its readers.

Guest poets Abhaya Das and Utpal Mohanty spoke on ‘The Reader’s Joy in a Novel’, remarking that a novelist has full freedom to express their feelings and emotions, and if the novel truly integrates into the fabric of social life, both reader and writer derive immense satisfaction.

The event began with a welcome address by announcer Biplab Das Mahapatra, followed by introductory remarks by editor Rajesh Giri and guest introductions by coordinator poet Madhusudan Mishra. Notable guests like Saraswati Bhoi, Pratima Tripathy, Rozalin Satapathy, and Subhashree Das were honored with traditional scarves and floral bouquets.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Parthasarathi Sahu, Shubhranshu Panda, and Santosh Dalai posed thought-provoking questions on novel-writing to the panel. Amarjeet Das delivered the vote of thanks. The program was smoothly conducted by Sanjeev Nayak, Sujata Das, Ranjana Ghosh, Jibanjyoti Swain, Rashmi Swain, Rashmita Agarya, Preyasi Mahapatra, Ranjana Ghosh, Suprabha Dalai, and Nandita Nayak.
