Balasore, July 27 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty) Fakir Mohan University marked its 27th Foundation Day with a grand celebration at its Nuapadhi campus, reaffirming its legacy of academic excellence, innovative research, and community engagement. The event reflected the university’s enduring commitment to fostering a value-based, inclusive, and progressive educational environment over nearly three decades.

The highlight of the occasion was the presence of Honourable Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi, esteemed legislator and former Union Minister, who graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Shri Sarangi emphasized the importance of value-based education and lauded Fakir Mohan University for its proactive role in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He commended the university for being the first in Odisha to fully implement NEP 2020, setting a remarkable example for institutions across the state.

The university also took the opportunity to honour literary excellence through its prestigious awards:
The Fakir Mohan University Literary Award 2025 was conferred upon Prof. Arupa Patangia Kalita for her outstanding literary contributions.
The Vyasa Gourab Samman 2025 was awarded to renowned writers Shri Arun Kumar Patra and Shri Sushi Kumar Dutta for their lifelong dedication to literature.

The Fakir Mohan University Yuva Galpika Award 2025, sponsored by Kavita Barik, was presented to Shri Dileswar Rana, a writer.
The Manoj Navapratibha Katha Award 2025, instituted by the Manoj Jayan Organisation, was awarded to Shri Debabrata Mallik (College of Teacher Education) to promote excellence in story writing.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy outlined the university’s transformative journey and recent initiatives. He highlighted several impactful community-based programs such as "Dhana, Pana, Minna", "Back to School", and the university’s commitment to sustainable development practices, emphasizing FMU’s role in connecting education with grassroots empowerment.

Registrar Smt Kukumina Das presented the University's annual Report, showcasing recent academic and infrastructural achievements. The program began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Bhaskar Behera, Chairman, PGC. The Foundation Day celebration concluded with renewed optimism and a shared vision of shaping a knowledge-driven and socially responsible future.
